“Land Rover only offered its Defender series with a pickup body option”

Actually no, there were Series pickups before the Defender one. Had a Poppy Red 2a 109 that had planned to restore. Ended up redoing the Rangie instead.

In any case that example is not very worthwhile imho.

“Pretentious upper middle class” would be all over it. You know, for when they have to pick up some potting soil for the wife. I’m surprised Land Rover hasn’t tried to capitalize on the pick up rage. Even Cadillac got in on it.

As did Lincoln. Both companies though already have a plethora of trucks to gussy up.

No need for your Gladiator now....

There have been so many hack jobs on D1/RRC’s over the years, that this has to get a thumbs up for simply being professionally done.

Ditch the bejeweled LR4 tail lights for the more pragmatic LR3 design, add some decent tires, and this might be tempting.

I am about to buy a good running low mileage rolled D1 with almost all the damage to the rear half. Maybe I will just cut the back off and plop a pickup bed on there. 😀 That’s not a knock on these guys. They really did a thorough job.

Due to some circumstances this beast did not get finished, but the plan is for a 6x6 Disco with a flat bed in the back. Apparently there is a kit that can be ordered for the transformation...
