Diesel Heater

I went down the rabbit hole on youtube a couple nights back and found this series. The CO problem with diesel heaters seems to be way overstated.

Unless, as javelinadave notes, there's an issue with the venting. Good idea to have a CO monitor, just as it is in a house. I've known people who've gotten CO poisoning in a tent from a small backpacking stove.

One of the larger Brit shops paid to have various wingtop vents airflow tested. Stock vent is the only way to go, not scoops. On trip to Iceland, we took took airline blankets and stuff between seatbox and sill, heat did not escape. (pro tip: on disembarking, keep laptop bag open and grab the 1st class blankets still in plastic bags from the seats! LOL)

Planar 2D12 was our first, now also have 2 ChiCom ones.

T-shirt idea: Parts Diagram of Webasto clone, with “But did you die?” printed on top.

As has been said, adjust cables, ensure seals all good. This means inside the heater box also.

IMHO, the tap directly into fuel tank is best, ensure tube does not bottom out and leaves a few gallons so you do not run tank dry.

I was just wondering if one of these might actually be able to be installed in the engine bay.... I've not actually figured out my cold weather running yet, but this was a mild winter, so I'll probably wait till summer to look seriously into buying.

I have a Chinese 2kw under the cubby. Makes a huge difference in the winter. Pretty easy to install.

Why not mount it under the center console? Series Defender Outfitters sells a mount that goes under the cubby.

I'd have a lot of re-fitting to do to make it work since I've already modified my center console to be the right height, it is used for all my auxillary switches, and I actually use it to keep a bunch of junk in. But it would be a good spot.
