Defender side mirrors...

Not too long ago, I replaced my two mirrors with new assemblies from rovers north because the old ones had stripped screws at the hinge and were quite wobbly. Just recently I was navigating through a tight spot and had to pull my mirrors back. I believe I may have done some irreversible damage. The mirror arms are no longer indexed tight in the key ways. Is there a way to tighten the assembly up? I now realize I should have lifted up on the mirror before bringing back but now I have two awkward mirrors. Is there a fix? Or am I shopping for new mirrors, and farting around with taking the hinge back off?

Maybe they came loose? Maybe they are broken, junk aftermarket crap? You do not need to lift them up to move them. You should be able to move them back and forth a million times without incident.

Mirror to the arm or the arm to the hinge mount?

If mirror to arm - there is a c-shaped clamp ring, remove, clean, bend as needed for tension and reattach...

If arm to hinge mount - spring inside is bound or broken, remove from truck, disassemble, inspect, clean & repair, or just replace the whole thing...
