Decisions decisions-tire sizing

Having had one of my very very old BFG KM's delaminate and fail this weekend, I know the time has come to stop procrastinating and replace them all.
One concern however is the way my current size 255/85-16 Is fast going the way of the dinosaur. While 285/75 is the logical replacement, because I have the rear wheel arch extra tank, that space is nominally already taken. I've already gotten the 30mm spaces fitted. I never had clearance problems before the spacers which push the tires out nicely.
I've just started toying with going to 265-75 and losing that half inch of clearance.

Thoughts?

If you don't off road, sure. They look very good on the vehicle.

My friend has a TDI200, new R380, and 1.2 LT230 transfer case. He did lose some bottom end but highway cruising is wonderful.

I didn't think you needed spacers with 255 -- is that correct?

I may have to stick with 235 out of protest at the cost of jumping to 255. A thin profile tire is what these trucks want. I'd hate to lose what turn radius I have by using spacers AND paying a lot more cash.

Spacer or not depends on the rim.... There are a lot of different offsets.

To fit a 285 without any trimming and without hitting the spring perch in the rear, you need just the right amount of offset.

But tell me where I can get them. And without having to sell the truck to be able to afford them. LOL! I've never bought anything but 235's, and have been happy, but the 255 seem a better fit for this vehicle. You run XZL.... 8.5?

This is pretty much what you have to chose from with 255, am I right? https://www.tireamerica.com/tires/by-size/2558516

Anyone use this company before?

Those coopers and KM2 are only current tires out there. KM3 was out early with that size and is said to be coming out again "soon". Sadly Duratrac was killed off to.
Using Rover alloys. Has the extended range Roversnorth wheelarch tank.

I thought Toyo offered a 255/85 in the MT, I also believe Cooper lists a 255/85 in D load range...

255/85 is a great size for the D90 esp with the OME HD/MD lift that's so popular.

I am also in the market hoping the KM3 will be offered in this size.

Turning radius will take a hit with the 285s. It's been many years but I am prett sure I was able to run my steering stops in a bit when I went from 265s to 255s.

I gave away a set of AR 15" steels wheels, shouldve kept those as the 33x10.5r15 is still readily availible

BFG customer service says the KM3 will be offered in a 255/85. Hopefully D load range one can dream..

Good news on the 255/85 sticking around. The M3’s still have more graffiti on the sidewalls than I prefer though.

I ran 285's on my 90. Rubbed on full lock and could run fully articulated in the rear, but not a lot. Waiting for the KM3s to come out for my Classic.

Toyo MT's have been good for me in 235/85, very grippy in everything I have tried (haven't done snow though)

extremely heavy for that size however, like seems 50% heavier than the Km2's I had before.

I'm thinking I will need to get new tires in about a year. My problem with going to 255, other than a big price hike, is that most of them are the MTs of some kind. This is probably not a problem for BFG, or some of the other more refined versions, but I wouldn't want any others for the mere fact that this is my daily driver. Once they wear past 50% or so, the reviews on noise and stability become iffy on a lot of the MT tires. I'll have to closely review a lot of options when it comes time.
