D-90 Fiberglass hardtop install?

I have the install instructions.

Wondering if there is anyone with real world experience who has done this a few times that can provide feedback.

I'm tentatively thinking about putting my FBHT on...

What are the secret tips and tricks?

No real trick to it if I remember correctly. I had one back in 2008. I drilled out the top cap holes on the bed and put in Riv-Nuts to make it easier. I put the hard top on every winter. This allowed me to just use regular machine screws to hold it in place. I put a strip of adhesive weatherstripping on the rails to keep the water out. You can get that in any hardware store. I think I did the same between the roof panel and the side panels. The last thing I remember adding (not sure of the name of the stuff at the moment) was a tacky window seal strip material. It comes in a roll and probably bought it from Rovers North. I was able to fill in gaps with it by layering it up and plugging holes, etc. This material stayed somewhat soft so in the spring it was relatively easy to remove and it did a good job keeping any water out.

I have a box of 3M "dum-dum" which is that black putty stuff that stays soft fooooreveeer.

I'm not sure what my tub has...definitely has some kind of riv-nuts in there.

Carefully!

I used to suspend my fiberglass top from the rafters in my garage using ratcheting tie down straps. This allowed me to drop the top down very slowly to get it even all the way around. You cannot be in a hurry while either putting the top on or removing it...

put two 2x4's across the tub. Get someone to help place the top on the rover, supported by the two 2x4's. Hook up the ratchet straps, ratchet the straps up evenly, to remove the 2x4's, then slowly lower the back end down, then finish by lowering the front end.

+1 on DumDum!

The designers of this top should be flogged publicly for a straight week in Northeastern US wet, cold, windy weather on top of a bald hill.
