I had a pre arranged visit with a local Rover hoarder in Grand Junction to get a NAS 90 tub. The rest of the guys came because it was a rover hoarder. Owner is an aircraft mechanic originally from Rhodesia.

Dang! I haven't seen Don in probably 20 years ... the Ambulance was there but they've multiplied :)

Hope he's well.

Trey and I have gone out 4 yrs in a row now. Sitting around the fire back @ Stauffer's on 9/20 we discussed doing this every year till we can't. Instead of trailering wheeling rigs with 35's and lockers, next year we'll bring lwb trucks that are comfortable enough to drive cross country and gear to live out of them while exploring. Peter is already set. We discussed exploring the rockies from New Mexico to Canada over the coming years. We spent 10 days this year, intent is to stretch to two weeks next year. Build that R2.8 110 and join us

I'm in for next year in a pokey 90 200tdi w/a roof top tent.

With Trey wrench skills, overnight shipping and your contact at O'Reilly's driving out sounds like the move.

And with that crew put me down as definite possibility, haha! Will print out some of these pics and hang them in the garage for motivation and work on getting clearance from the wife too ;)

As long as the ski season isn't too epic I'll be able to get the refurb and R2.8 install done this winter :D

I met Don through Pendy back in 2008 when they came to Virginia and dragged 3 110's West. The two of them would fuss like old wives. I hadnt seen him in 12 but have been trading texts. His wife just retired and they were going camping the next day so our visit was tight on timing. They did come to Bill's for the party that evening.
2 ambulances, a doormobile, a couple 109's with trop tops. He also has a 110 with Pendy in Kansas. He had a Rockware defender bumper with a Superwinch leaning against the garage wall but none of us could talk him out of it.
Great guy.

It was totally the group we were with, you'd fit in well. Everyone looking out for everyone else to insure the entire group had an epic time.
Pretty incredible when you are 20 miles back in a trail @ Moab and blow a p/s pump spraying atf all over your manifolds and grabbing an extinguisher, that more than one person in the group has the presence of mind to immediately call and order a p/s pump for your truck 10 mins before the parts store closes on a Sunday afternoon so that pump would be available first thing 7am Tuesday. To be honest it wasnt a thought I was having @ that moment with smoke everywhere. Those guys saved us a day of down time.
Same thing happened with Peter's classic when he broke the rear ring gear mid-afternoon Monday. Kraig called Bill @ GBR. Bill wasnt in the shop. Kraig got his cell from the top of the Top of The World Trail (where some of those pictures were taken) -few area's had service and @ that altitude he had some, due to a cell phone signal booster built into his 90.
Get's Bill on the phone. Bill says "I'm 30 diffs behind". Kraig "what do you have on the shelf you could overnight right now" ? Bill "a pair of truetrac's with 4:10's". Kraig "Perfect, ship them to Moab we'll pick them up @ the terminal". No credit card number given, no price asked, just the sense of immediacy to solve the problem so the epic adventure could proceed.

And those are the stories that bring people together even more and will be talked around the camp fire years from now (y)

First time I meet Kraig he was helping Josh P get a throttle cable sourced for his 90 up at Peter's house. I didn't know Josh either but they both seemed cool and I just hopped in for the adventure. Kraig seems to have some Jedi sense on how to and from whom to get parts when they are needed ASAP. He literally knew who was coming to VOB from different vendors and drive times if we went to get it. He may have even known their parts stock
