"Close enough" Alpine white color?

I'm going to be painting a set of steel wheels soon. My roof is alpine white so I'd like to match the wheels as close as possible.

Anyone had any luck with off the shelf colors being close enough? At the end of the day as long as it looks good from 10ft away that is all I'm going for. Would prefer to use Duplicolor wheel paint. They've got a white.

And yes I've done code and RGB searches. No dice.

Thanks.

Yup... Rustoleum Appliance epoxy in Biscuit worked for me ...Not a great pic but both roof and wheels were painted with it.

There is a body shop supply place near me that mixes custom aerosol paint at about $25 a can. I did this when I cut out my bulkhead and had to paint the interior. Came out pefect. This what I would do.

Getting Alpine white in bright light is easy, its that mayo color that comes out in off light that is the tricky part

I've had a bunch of single stage Alpine white rattle cans made locally. Paint code NUC as noted above.

I painted a set of BMW wheels about six years ago with the Dupli-Color wheel finish. It looks great but doesn't really hold up. For the money in a time you going to take spraying and painting these it might be easier just getting a blasted and powder-coated for a little bit more

I was super anal about prep and it still did not adhere well. I had chipping in about a year

Bringing this back... Have some paint cans of nuc/456 alpine white, but it's too grey/blue? What code should I try next? Just want it a bit closer as I'm painting some larger panels soon before the whole thing gets painted down the road.

See fuel filler cover.

Thank Nick, not sure if I need a different color altogether, but of course this was a repaint so it could be anything. Not sure if they used a different paint code or just used what was on the shelf.

I have a gallon of Chawton single stage. Could send you a few oz of it to try, but don’t know if you’re setup for spraying.

Otherwise, color matched single stage in spray cans is a good idea.

I can get single stage cans made for about $20. Ill give chawton a try and see if that's better.. appreciate the offer.

Don't know how you're doing prep but nothing will stick to bare aluminum unless it's cleaned with paint-grade cleaner, DA'd with 180 or Alodine'd, white/grey primered 2 coats (preferably epoxy), sanded with 400, and then top coated. Temp and humidity needs to be managed too. Painting is a pain in the ass.

this is just temp until the truck gets painted (properly). im trying not to have black/primer doors and some other small parts. the alpine is not too offensive, but i figured id see if anything closer. not much is bare metal, most is already painted the wrong color. doors are steel though so should prove easier.

my paint can guy just said he cant make chawton, as lrc603 is water based and he cant put it in a can. Anyone have any other options? I just wanted to test before getting enough for the spray gun.

That’s odd. Probably not much point in arguing with the paint guy but Chawton is no different than any other solid single stage used by LR. Mine is mixed as a standard urethane, Automotive Art brand.

If you're just looking for LR whites to try, there's:
LRC909 Alaska White
LRC456 Alpine White
LRC603 Chawton White
LRC867 Fuji White
LRC354 Ivory/Davos White

Does your paint guy have one of the Color Matching guns? They should be able to scan the color of an existing panel and mix up the paint for the spray can, just like Home Depot....
