Clicking sound behind steering: L322 2011 Range Rover

I realize this is for classics, but the experts are diverse enough here. I have a 2011 full-size Range Rover supercharged 5L. I heard this weird knocking clicking noise today driving down the interstate, it just started for a few minutes, and then stopped. Did it yesterday randomly like that also. No change in speed, nothing.

Here’s a video of it. It sounds like it’s coming from behind the steering wheel or something like that. Nothing is loose underneath the car, nothing felt odd, just a very audible clicking light knocking sound.

I know about the timing chain issue on these trucks, but I don’t know if it would ever present it self in this way.

Sound like maybe a blend motor for the heating A/C ductwork. If you google 'Range Rover blend motor' you might find more info that could help you narrow it down. Try different setting, on/off of the cooling heating system that might be able to help diagnose it. Just a suggestion.

good call, wasn’t thinking about HVAC / fan

That definitely is not the timing chains or supercharger, those are most noticeable at idle and you wouldn't hear it in the cabin like that. I can't say I've heard that noise before, but HVAC is probably a good place to start. See if it continues if you change to recirculate or change the direction of the air flow.

Slight update, pulled the supercharger out and I’ve got a small amount of play in the snout. Not much but possibly enough to cause some intermittent knocking. Haven’t had the truck on the road in awhile, replacing the front air struts as well so it’s been immobile. Will report back if anything definitive comes across.
