Hi - Anyone looking to unload an old CB that is lying around collecting dust? Hand held preferred, but would take a reasonable hard mounted. I know must of you prefer HAM and are licensed, but I'm really looking for basic just to add for fun / curiosity in my 110.

Thank you!

I think we might be missing the point of his post- he’s searching for a used CB, not a suggestion to switch to a different system. We still use CB to wheel in MO, but maybe that’s because we’re out in the sticks, still. I love my CB on trails, love the old-school look, love that it’s hooked up to a PA (mostly the kids love that), and love that those of us that have CBs are channeling some Smokey and the Bandit vibe, at least in our own minds.

just curious: is it difficult to find new CBs anymore? Mine is at least 20+ years old.

Still easy to find especially with the net. There is actually a CB store in long island that I just had tune up my old cb. My only issue is idk where I'd mount an antenna.. that's the only reason I didn't install it yet. I don't wanna drill holes all over the place. I already drilled for a gps antenna..

Does GMRS act in the same way as original CB? From what I can tell, there is still the emergency channels, NOAA weather, trucking, etc....

FRS seems to be in between CB and GMRS? No license for FRS.

Obviously a little online research would probably answer all this, but I figured this is a group that is well versed in these matters and has something lying around collecting dust.

We had a CB when I was kid and would drive from CT to Michigan a few times a year through Canada. It was always fun listening to the truckers. This is more for nostalgia and the remote emergency should disaster ever strike with no cell / coverage.

For my first car, I put a VHF in it. Yes at the time probably not legal but half my friends worked on the water and I kept getting in trouble for using my mom's phone to call my friends. Channel 22 was our stomping ground.
