Caliper question

I bought new front calipers for my 110 and quickly realized I bought the wider ones for slotted rotors (which i dont have). I never installed and ordered the rubber grommets/gaskets needed for when you remove the spacers for use with regular rotors. I am putting them back together and realized that i mixed up the bolts which have different markings on them (some longer that others)

.

I tried to put shortest ones on the outside and long in the middle. The bolts with the 10.9 markings seem to be binding so I stopped. Any insights here? also, i have searched around and it looks like these are to be 45 ft/lbs torque, sound right? Thank you

If the bolts don't go all the way through the calipers into blind holes they're going to be too long now and you're just have to replace them with regular 10.9 bolts.

I've never done this job I'd probably just crank on them. Can't help you there sorry.

Gonna try to tackle this tomorrow since the weather here sucks and need to get it ready for summer.

You're right. I just drove around looking for these and turns out 10.9 fine thread bolts arent exactly common. I'm just going to put them back together and grab slotted rotors. Thanks guys!

@Caligula, You're right, that's the first place I went since they always have obscure stuff, until now. So...now I have another issue, ordered vented/slotted rotors today and now can't find the back spacers that were on those calipers (not the ones with holes and bushings) but the non-functional small ones. Long shot, anyone have a set?

those are not floating calipers, they don't have a separate mounting bracket. instead, they are fixed mount onto spindle/hub. you are not missing parts. you may be thinking of d2 or p38 calipers which do have a separate bracket and use sliders where the caliper floats.

We may be talking about two different things. These spacers came in the calipers to allow for wider vented rotors. I originally removed for use with non- vented (narrow rotors) and then decided to put them back together and ordered vented/slotted rotors. Problem is I lost the back half spacer. Pic shows front spacer installed with fluid fitting and grommet, rear spacers went missing. Anyone have a set ? or know where to get them?

I use Belmetric to find the size, grade, and finish of metic bolts i need. I have gone through and replaced virtually every bolt on my truck by now, so I order from them often.
I love Belmetric. Feel free to add to the nuts and bolts thread I made if you know any of the bolt sizes you ordered.

Reviving this thread with another question. I ordered new vented rotors and wide calipers. I have 85 110 and for some reason the new calipers will not clear the front hub drive flanges without having to grind some metal away on the backside. Anyone else have this issue and if so, are there (thinner?) hubs I should swap over?

since those parts were never intended to fit that year id expect some grinding. When i did my disc swap in the rear of my 83/84 lots of grinding was done. pics would help

you may also need to convert the brake line to banjo bolt after install if its really close to the coil spring, depending on the caliper used. Why i stayed with solids and did the same in the rear

Thanks Matt. When you did the grinding, assuming it had no effect on balancing? Attaching pics of grinding and brake line - which was ok.

Now I need to focus on the rears. Next move is to find a Salisbury with disc setup. Drums are dragging the whole thing down.

Just convert. New Brackets, shafts, used disco hubs etc. I have all the stuff here I just have not bothered to do it yet. The machining way seems too complicated.
