Buying New Defender

Hi all! I'm looking at possibly getting a new Defender. The reviews I'm seeing are not the best. My question is are these reviews accurate? Is this vehicle worth the price of admission? Thanks all!

Buy a Land Cruiser. Or the Lexus version. Then spend a few bucks to make it less urban. The reviews/reports of the D2 are typical of the first/second year of any new vehicle. If you want a New Defender, i suggest you wait. I have a few friends who took the plunge and both regret it. That is just 2 of the many they have sold so take that for what it is worth.

Agreed ^

Never been a huge fan of the new Defender. I have a Lexus GX460, and if I could afford it, would be running a newer Land Cruiser along the '93 Defender. More enjoyable to have a bulletproof newer vehicle and a real Defender.

What vehicle do you currently own? If you own something that just requires normal maintenance, the Defender will be a disappointment. If you own European cars and like the new defender, go for it.

Wow, thank you for the feedback. Currently own Camaro. Never had issues besides regular maintenance with it. I guess I'm holding off on it. Much appreciated. Happy Holidays!

This may not be the popular opinion but I highly recommend the new Defender. I have a 95 NAS too and it is an entirely different vehicle, but for a daily driver the new Defender is great. It drives better and has better tech/cameras than my wife's new G550. I've had mine a little over a year now and have had very little issues with it.

I really like my 2020 Defender. Really can't compare it to the old ones, of which I have 2, 1990 D90 200tdi, 1991 Santana 110 converted to 300tdi on 37s. It is incredibly good offroad with the enhanced terrain response and elec locking rear diff. Soaks up washboards and offroad miles in comfort beyond anything the old Defenders can. They are totally different vehicles and totally different experience but both awesome in their own way.

I bought mine barebones...n o sunroof, only elec diff, tow package, heated manual seats and 18 inch steelies.
