Bring a Trailer Defender Auction Criticism

Having had a D1 and now a 90.... I rather like the way whoever built that truck combined the longer wheelbase of the D1 with the 90’s departure angle. Lots of work when into that truck and I doubt they made any money on the sale.
Not sure I follow you? Drew bought a 110 chassis and shorthened the rear over hang to improve departure angle. He then shortened a 110 tub to match up. The wheel base is 110 and the frame is a defender one. Not disco 100 inch. Truck drove and handled like any other 110.

I'm over it really, The only people who are really stupid here are the buyers and the shills. The dude is exploiting an open market, If he wasn't such a smarmy cunt then it really wouldn't matter
Agree. Like people that buy $1200 5G phones in 2020.

I’m not sure you can just build a production vehicle out of readily available parts and called it “manufactured.” Is the owner selling this truck because a 2020 “not a defender” is impossible to insure? Why do so many trucks on BaT have weird frickin’ stories?

I think insurance will consider it a kit car. Actually it isn't a bad way to go if you want a legit Puma truck.

So...

It‘s a “replica of a Land Rover.”

Wonder if it’s a licensed replica of a Land Rover...

Seriously, F Aaron. He‘s been leading others down the primrose path to depravity for years.

In response to a question about “what is a puma hood and bulkhead” the seller of the Osprey truck offered this answer:

”PUMA is an aftermarket supplier of Land Rover & Mercedes Unimog parts.
https://www.pumadefenderparts.com/

i understand not everyone has a a parts-nerd level of knowledge, but this statement demonstrates the seller has no understanding of something that is being touted in the description of the vehicle. This makes me conjure up an imagined conversation between a chiropractor and his mark:

”so, do you want to go with the Puma bonnet and dash?”
“give me whatever option costs more”

Jim: That website probably answers the doubts I expressed earlier suspecting about the source of parts creating a potential interest from Customs.

We hand build complete bodies with all new Puma Defender parts. Each body is carefully built to meet or exceed factory fit and finish. All panels are expertly painted on both sides in your choice of color and finish. All metal fasteners are either stainless steel or aluminum.

Honestly has the math of stateside markup gotten to the point that reselling takeoff new bodies/assemblies can actually make a profit?
