bonnet catch adjustment?

Anyone have a good method or a video for adjusting the bonnet catch?

My slam panel appears tilted downward @ the rear so I think I know why it's not lining up...

I think there are different generations of the latch, on mine if you remove the grill you'll find two m6 bolts that run vertical and pass through the two slam panel support arms and thread into the latch plate. If you loosen those two bolts you should be able to move the latch plate around a bit. You may need to loosen the support arms where they attach to the chassis too.

That's assuming you've got an alignment issue.

Good to know, I didnt know that latch plate could move.

Yep I just got mine all adjusted and had to do a bunch of messing about. You can also gain a bit more adjustment if need be by loosening the bonnet hinge bolts and moving it a bit back there.

I got the center pin/spring/lock to adjust well by loosening the two bolts in the center, then with the spring detached, and the bonnet closed and locked, I adjusted the plate to center. Then retightened the bolts, then reattached the spring.

Now the only problem I have is that the emergency catch on the side often comes down right on the edge of the little "ramp" it strikes, so it still does not always smoothly close.

Anyone have an idea on how to adjust just that part from this point?

You mean the catch sits too close to the front of the vehicle? I just bent mine by hand a bit, it's pretty flexible.

No, it is misaligned left to right.

I had to adjust mine to the left beyond what was available to move so I opened the holes a little with a dremel and greased it up and that did the trick for me. I only needed a small amount to make it work but it is still far from perfect.

I'll have to take a look at doing it like that. I assume you are meaning the actual hook as it is attached to the hood? Or are you talking about the ramp down next to the radiator?

A couple of options. You can adjust the latch plate, bend the hook and adjust the cable tension. I had to do all of the above to be able to have a nice release without feeling like i was going to rip my bicep off. If just the latch, then latch plate first and then tweak the hook.

I had to adjust the plate on the radiator side. Couldn't make enough adjustments to anything else. The release is super smooth now with zero catching when releasing the hood now.

I think I finally got my latch to work properly. It isn't perfect, but I'm not sure if the entire front end is properly aligned.

Either way, it is time to hook up the release cable.

Could someone get a few pics for me of where it comes through the bulkhead, how it routes to the grill, and where it is anchored at the end where it attaches to the release lever?
