Has anyone tried the Snap-on 1/4" model? Seems like it would be useful for speeding up a lot of small-fastener disassembly jobs that you'd normally use a hand wrench or ratchet for.

Okay, I know this sounds crazy but I stripped out 3 Dewalt 18v rattle guns and got tired of taking them back. I had heard the Rigid (home depot house brand) was made by Milwaukee and at a reasonable price. The kicker was it came with two batteries and had a lifetime guarantee.....including the batteries. Just make sure you register them. In the three years I've had it, no battery failures, used extensively on my rover tear down and rebuild and I built two fences as well as assorted home projects. The thing has been awesome.

YMMV but it's one of the best power tools I've ever bought.

Yeah those are great and super powerful for their size. You can definitely do some damage with it. I have an older one that is a bit driver impact that I keep fixing since they don't make it anymore. Awesome for taking dashboards apart and other interior work.

We have a Milwaukee 1/4" impact at work. It's great for small jobs.

Since I am all Ryobi I took JohnsD90's advice and picked one up for $119. I slapped in a charged battery and it effortlessly spun off a lug nut from my truck.

My old 110v Northern tool impact wrench isn't doing it anymore. According to the milwaukee rep at HD today, Ryobi is one of their brands. Couldn't quite stomach Dewalt pricing so Ryobi came home.

Figure this might be the place to ask. Anyone have experience with the Ebay power tool batteries? I see they have sold a ton of them. This battery in Genuine goes for $150 each. Was thinking about scooping up the Milwaukee cordless blower for leaves/drying the car but it doesn't come with any batteries, and my current impact gun battery is a little small for a blower.

Ebay reviews are flakely because Ebay consolidates reviews amongst many sellers, sometimes you will even see Genuine reviews stuffed into ads for known knock off items.

Looks good. My only comment is why 1/2? Unless you take wheels on and off all day, what are you really doing with it that requires the extra size and weight?
LOL...
I have some monster half-inch air gun (something like 550 lb-ft), and very rarely use it.
But one night when I disassembled the wrong side of the broken axle on Rubicon, I went to town with the impact on the other side.
Axle/CV joint replacement on a D1 took about 25 minutes - and most of it torquing back the fasteners by hand.
Not sure if a 3/8 impact would've been sufficient.

I have Stihl gas powered backpack blower plus several Stihl AP battery powered tools. Not cheap but great products and retailer support.

The middle of the range Ryobi 1/2 inch #P261 is pretty dang impressive if I say so myself.

I have a Bosch 1/2 inch and a Makita 3/8 inch. Use the 3/8 for assembly work and the 1/2 inch for things that are really tight. Not much the Bosch has not been able to remove, but I keep air as a backup.

I have the Bosch 1/2" as well. I bought it and a regular Bosch cordless drill a few years ago. I just used the Bosch impact wrench for the first time today and I couldn't believe how good it actually works. I thought for sure that I was going to have to get the grinder out, but fortunately did not need it -- Thanks Bosch!!! I have used a lot of the Bosch tools (demolition hammers, multi tool, chop saw, etc... and like the build quality / long service life. Although if Milwaukee makes a tool that I need here in the USA, that is always my first choice.

I was down at a friend's place in ATL the other week and he had a selection of the various Milwaukee impacts, they were great. Will plan to get those once I get my garage outfitted
