Ball Joint Concern

So, was working in getting a new steering dampener in and noticed the drop arm ball joint was torn and seemed to be leaking.

I am working through a list of updates and am wondering if this is one that should jump to the top of the list?

The genuine assembled balljoint isnt too much more than the genuine rebuild kit, that's probably what I'd go with if I werent running a Disco drop arm on my 110

While you're at it, you may replace the drag link, tie rod end, and pitman arm with D1-style parts. Far easier to find replacement, and easy enough to bolt on the bracket for the steering dampener.

This is the way IMO. 4 replaceable ball joints is much more enjoyable than 3 normals and 1 PITA rebuild/replace.

Just FYI---the stock rubber boots on rod ends suck. I replace them all with silicone boots that I get in various sizes from ebay.

I change them out before I put them on. Keep the others as spares. I like the clear to see the grease, but they come in other colors...

The one's that I am using currently are the 16-33-25mm versions, but of course do your own measurements. THe last ones I got are blue...

Unfortunately the seller just pulled out for a time due to personal issues--just got a message from him. So I'll need another source :)

Posting for posterity - genuine land rover D1 drop arm purchased from Rimmer Bros and successfully installed. Did not get a chance to replace silicon boots and did not get a chance to get the drag link and tie rod ends (tie rod ends are new from GBR).

Found that the adjustable pitman arm puller from Autozone was invaluable (although probably overkill), the socket for the nut on the drop arm is 1 5/16" or just under 34mm, impact wrench is a huge help (although I did most all of it by hand because I was impatient), and am enjoying newfound bliss in steering control.

Thanks all for the help!
