Allisport Radiator with fan 300tdi

Looking at the Allisport 300tdi radiator with the fan kit. It has the oil cooler included. What is the electrical plug in the oil cooler? I'm assuming it's a temp control but it has 3 wire connections and my current oil temp is just one wire to the sender.

I've been looking online and it looks like the Revotec 35mm electronic fan controller is the best set up for the fan. When you install an electronic fan does that mean you can remove the fan blade attached to the motor?

Thanks,
Alex

Yes on removing the fan blade from the motor. The other questions I am not sure about.

Why not an electric fan? I was thinking in the summer it would be nice to have the extra air flow and in the winter I can turn it off and increase cabin heat. And it's one less thing to remove to service the motor if there isn't a fan blade.

I'm installing an electric.

There are several guys in the Portland area who have no fan at all, and have reported that they have never had to worry about overheating as long as they have airflow (and good condition cooling bits). If I were in the warmer regions of the country, I'd probably still go electric, but I'd spend a lot of money on the fan and maybe even get a larger radiator.

It does allow for some amazingly easy clearance up front if you need to work on something up there. It also lowers *some* parasitic drag on the engine.

Electric vs mechanical, everybody has an opinion. I'm in the mechanical corner but no reason to start a debate. Get what you think is best for you.

The 300Tdi runs cool as a cucumber and the clutch-driven fan is more than enough to cool it. In the winter, when the motor is cold, the thermostat cuts the radiator out anyway, so an electric fan control doesn't really do much for you.

The one advantage of an electric is that you can shut it off when fording water above fan level but how often are you doing that?

On the other hand, the clutch fan moves a ton of air and is dead-simple.

I wonder if anyone has done normal mechanical plus a pusher electric in front of the radiator

Fan decision aside.

The thermostat for the oil cooler. How does it wire up? I currently use a Madman that has one wire that runs to my oil temp sender. Can I use the same one wire set up here?

I can't wait to install an electric fan. I feel like for one reason or another I always need to remove the fan shroud which means draining a little coolant, removing the intercooler pipe etc. I'm over it.

Has anybody received an order from Allisport in the last six months? Anyone know what's really going on with them?

Yes. Andrew has been in the hospital, as has his father, and he has been consumed with building out a new space to move his business to and per his email this morning, hopes to move next week. Quite a bit going on for Mr Graham to deal with this summer.

In the end, as with most high quality items in life, Allisport's products are made by artisans (have you seen their welds ?) and the company is small & bursting @ the seams with the need to grow to keep up with demand. Your continued patience will be greeted with an unsurpassable product.

Thats what I keep telling my customers.....

I love their products, no question about that. It's been close to five months since I placed (and paid for) my order and I've written them twice but never got any explanation other than "we're backed up".

I'll keep waiting.

They finally refunded an expensive order with turbo etc as they could not fulfill and then stated they would contact me when they could. I ordered roughly when Chris did. They did not even tell me which product (s) were not available. I have a header tank from them and yes beautiful product but unfortunately difficult to actually get the product. Now who else makes a drop in variable turbo? With similar quality.
