After-market seat heaters?

Hi all,

I’m looking to warm up the ride in my 95 Disco, so do you have any recommendations on seat heaters/warmers to install? My Disco has holes for the switches under the window switch cover, but that’s where it ends. I’ll be wiring them in myself, so I’m looking for something that will make the work worthwhile.

Thanks.

You know that in order to install these you have to pretty much destroy the seats, right? Look for heated covers, far less invasive.

If like my older D1 seats you need new foams? Get the kit from Exmoor and replace at our leisure. Nothing like toasty buns when it colder out.

Greg: For some reason the window and seat switch panel with all the switch in it is one of those parts I kept from my D1

That’s a bonus little stash to save. If I didn't have to now replace my front brake calipers and power steering hoses, I’d. make an offer!

Why would you have to destroy the seats? I’ve never destroyed a seat replacing seat heating elements. You just cut the hog rings and the leather comes off. Reinstall with new hog rings. Alternatively, just have an upholsterer do the work.

On every set I've ever done the cover has been spray glued to the foam, which means that you have to ruin the foam or the cover to get them apart. You may have a different experience than I have.

Ive only done newer rovers, but we used to send D2 seats to the upholstery shop all the time to have the elements replaced and they came back looking the same

I replaced the heater elements on my classic and never ruined a thing. as JJ mentions, you cut old hog rings, install new and done all inside 1/2 a day.
it even crossed my mind to upgrade the rear seats with heaters just because of how easy it is to install. wiring the rear is another project altogether.

I put DORMAN 628-040 heaters in my D90. They heat up extremely quickly, which was a bit unnerving at first. I put them on high for a couple minutes, and then to low after that or else the heat is uncomfortable.
