91 D90 repower

Hi all,

New to Defenders. Recently purchased a Defender 90. Santana build, so I know there are differences such as parabolic leaf springs vs coils. There are others differences like the prop shafts and such, but the guts are all rover. 2.5 NAS diesel and the correct trans and transfer case. What I am interested in is repower options keeping the stock trans. I am aware the other 2.5TD and 200TDi will bolt up and with an adapter, the 300 will as well.
What I am curious about is what about the gassers? 3.5, 3.9, or 4.2. have a shop that I can do about anything, just looking for simple repower jobs that will not take a year. A couple weekends is the target.

BTW, the Santana has only surface rust on the iron pieces. Frame is in pristine shape, floors look new, and firewall has surface rust where the oil did not prevent oxidation.
