3rd Brake Light

Here is my submission for technical discussion...

My D90 ST had a functioning 3rd brake light but I thought it could be better.

This is the first Freelander part I've ever bought.
I think it's the high brake light from the model with the removable rear roof section but it might have been used on other models as well.
Basically, just cut of the long part with a grinder and used a couple L brackets (staggered height) to mount it.

Oh, and for those of you with a NAS ST, you probably know the original 3rd brake light is NLA unobtanium or uber expensive.
I saw a NOS one sell 2 years ago for $400.

This project is low on the skill level but high on reward...:)

Thanks to Jeff Briggs for giving me the idea.

Well done. The Land Rover logo makes it really nice.

I could use this tech as I fab up a swing away spare tire carrier.

I've had a couple PMs from another site about my brake light.
It really is low tech and easy to do...

First, buy a brake light from a Freelander.

Last, get some cheap ass L-brackets and paint them black.
You'll have to use a different size and a few washers to even up the light because the holes to mount are uneven.
This becomes obvious when you're mounting the light.
I used weatherproof crimp connectors but you could use some household wire nuts and probably be ok...:)

I paid less than $30 for the Freelandy light on eBay... the rest was nuts and bolts I had laying around.
