300tdi vacuum pump. What to get?

I've got oil starting to drip from my vacuum pump and figure it's probably past it's prime. After a bit off online reading it seems like newer wabco pumps aren't as well made. Unipump seem to be getting better reviews.
Anyone have any input on which brand to get? Unipump seems to be out of stock most places too which could be problematic.....

I had just read that there had been some cost saving measures in the new wabco pumps that can lead to premature failures on current wabco's. No personal experience and normally I'd be all for the factory part.

Zack G's vacuum pump morted yesterday and it was a newer Wabco unit. Hopefully they have fixed their issues.

Wabco is junk

Mine was slightly leaking so I opted to go Wabco to replace it, it didn't last 100 miles before it seized-up in the depressed. I was pulling a trailer with 3K lbs. on it and it quit going to a stop light, I was not happy, went with a Britpart make in Turkey, it's been fine for over 2 years now.

Kept my old, slightly leaking unit as a spare + I have the #6 bolts & nyloc nuts to replace the rivets & reseal the unit should that become necessary.

My Wabco unit showed up this past Friday. The way things have been going it will probably catch fire while still in the box

I opted for an Allmakes (unipump) one in the end. We'll see if it's a good decision or not..... I should see if next week

I installed an old wabco one from a coworker's project, ordered a unipump to replace his unit, didn't want another Wabco. The unipump is I believe the same one from Britpart, both made in Turkey.

The pump has arrived. Anything unusual I need to know about the install?
Cylinder 1 TDC anything else? Gasket on dry or....?

I didn't do anything special when I did mine. I probably put some Permatex Aviation Form-a-gasket on it if I did anything.

Bugger - mine is dripping, but the weather is improving so I won't be laying in snow while I change it.

Any updates on vendor choices? How are your pumps holding up?

When you say "leaking" do you mean the body of the pump, or the gasket where it mounts to the block?

I've thought about going electric. I have not looked into it, but I bet it wouldn't be hard to find something online that fits the performance specs. And I would guess that going with something from a RRC or.... might be a good way to go.

My pump is so loud that I am going to be putting some kind of cover over it. I am not exaggerating when I say that it is quite possibly HALF of all the engine noise I get below 2000 RPM.

They commonly leak from the pump itself, which from what I understand, should not have oil in it to begin with.
