What!? How can you take that thing off-road without 50 series tires, fake plastic tread plates and exterior tampon holders? I'm going to stick with the new Pretender...

The Baby Bronco looks a lot like a cross between a Freelander 2 and a Skoda Yeti. I foresee that thing selling in large numbers.

The Bronco will put the Wrangler Unlimited to the test. It sort of takes all the air out of the new Defender. If Ford can get that thing to dealers for 2021 I think a lot of folks will hold off on buying a Defender. I’m guessing an SVT Raptor Bronco would be available at some point and would still cost less than a modestly optioned Defender.

I’m sure as a daily driver the Defender will be quieter and much more comfortable, but I’m guessing the Bronco will be priced like the Jeep equivalent which is how most people shop, sadly. You can only get the monthly payment on the Defender so low.

I drive a Ford SD daily. I work on it way less than my Land Rovers that have half the mileage and that I only drive occasionally.
Ford parts are cheaper than the Land Rover parts and readily available today- worst case tomorrow.

I think the short wb Bronco and the soft top 4 door bare far more resemblance to the cool original styling than the new defender does to the styling that sucked all of us in. The third pic just isnt cool like the first two, the lines of the hood and the different mirrors etc are killing the third image.

I'd agree, that thing is going to crush the new defender sales, especially if they dont eff up and put underpowered engines in it like Jeep did with the Gladiator.

Part of what was cool about the original Defender was that it was uniquely hand built in limited numbers on an outdated assembly line in the UK. One of the last hand built vehicles sold in any real production numbers.

The new "defender" is a robotics built high production number vehicle from Nitra Slovakia that has little design appeal to set it apart from everything else on the market. The engine choices offered do not excite. There is nothing that sets the new defender apart from the market other than Land Rovers marketing budget which seemingly is financially gutting the company.

I bet there are 1000's of these on the streets before Land Rover even fullfills the first pre-orders.

I like it, but I'm too loyal. The front end is way better than the crap thing Land Rover tried. I think if the Defender came in an actual off-road model, and you weren't forced into the technological nightmare, and if they fixed that front end, it could keep up sales against the Ford. But with these two pics, Ford just won.

I don't love it, but I think the design is appropriate. The Raptor look makes it instantly recognisable as a Ford, and the grill reminds me of an early Bronco. I'd never buy one, but I'd say job well done to Ford.

This is interesting. I think that this vehicle is going to prove that Gerry McGovern is a putz. This is going to very, very well, I think.

It's a Ford. They're going to sell hundreds of thousands of these. If it performs well off-road, there will be tons of bumpers, sliders, etc., to replace the plastic stuff.
