Don’t usually drive the Rangie at night yet recently noticed with the headlights on when I brake the red battery charging light dimly lights. As soon as the brake pedal released the light goes out. Only happens when headlights on. New alternator a few months ago.

What do you think? Where should I start?

Thanks

Charge battery. Clean terminals. Hook up one of those volt gauges while driving (I have one that plugs into the cigar lighter see if it spikes or does funny stuff).

Then replace the defective new alternator. ;-)

Thanks. Battery is on a trickle charger so always charged. However after checking my records it is almost 7 years old. Alternator is pumping out 13.1 volts. So maybe it is just time to replace the battery. However will get one of those volt gauges that plug into the cigar lighter and see what it shows.
Thanks again.
