Friend of mine it trying to pick up his new to him 1991 RRC 5-speed, and it cranks no start. Fuel pump comes on briefly with ignition, but pulling the coil wire shows no spark. Battery was completely dead this morning, and they had to jump. It came off the boat ten days ago and sat, but was not marked "tow" so they think it drove under its own power. Ideas?

They found a crack in the distributor cover, trying to glue it back together so they can get it home.

My fault: I jinxed him by suggesting he drag a uHaul trailer down to the port just in case. "It drove off the ship, it should be fine..."

Did they get the Rangie running?

They did. Called a local tow truck company that also had a body shop/repair shop. The found the broken distributor at the coil plug, and were able to cable tie the wire so it ran. My friend imported a '91 RRC two-door with a five speed, a nice one from Spain. Must have spent its life on a dusty ranch but damn good shape top and bottom. I kept thinking it had an immobilizer, since it had a green light for an alarm.
