1991 200TDI to R2.8--couple remaining questions

I am putting together my list to send to several vendors but before I do I want to make sure that my ducks are in order. I currently am running a 1991 LHD 200TDI, LT77/LT230 (1.4) and am going to swap to the R2.8. I am going to make it a Stumpy conversion and I think I have read every post but am still left with a couple questions that I would love help on if available.

First, I will point out that I understand that an R380 HD long nose would be the more appropriate swap for my year as I would not have to change out the floor/tunnel/bulkhead adapter/seat box union. However, at the end of last year a brand new R380 Ashcroft Stumpy came available in Boulder where I live (an ordering SNAFU by someone) so I grabbed it thinking I would convert the 200TDI to R380 eventually. So I already have a great tranny. I also have a low mileage LT230 1.2 in my garage, so I am set there. Looking at the cost difference to just buy a R2.8 w/Stumpy conversion, it is way cheaper than buying the R2.8 R380 with conversion even WITH selling my stumpy.

So, I will be getting these parts so far for my conversion:
R2.8 w/R380 adapter including clutch/fly and slave (Quickdraw)
R380 Stumpy (already have)
Linkage (came with stumpy)
R380 chassis mounts (already have in my pile o crap)
Front Drive shaft (I have a V8 GBR shaft in my pile)
Rear Driveshaft having HD built locally with same Spicer UJ.
LT230 1.2range (already have)
Rebuilt steering box 4-bolt (already have)
R380 Tunnel and floors/conversion (Rovers North)

Basically this lists a lot of big stuff.

Here are my questions.

1) I know that the R380 Stumpy mounts the engine 2" forward from the LT77 position. Are the positions of the engine approximately the same between those two versions? I ask as I explore clearance issues.
2) The front cover from Quickdraw/Cummins with spin on filter --Should I do this with this set up and will it fit it? (if engine positions are the same, I know it will fit...)
3) I have A/C. Do I need to use the Cummins AC compressor or will it fit my Sanden setup? What bracket do I need to purchase for the compressor to work in my LHD application?
4) Engine mounts. Are there any bolt in engine mounts that work with my existing engine mounts? If not, I have no issue removing them and welding in new ones--not a big deal if that is the best approach just couldn't find that info. I see Quickdraw makes universal ones--that is my current plan.
5) Radiator and Intercooler. Is there a vendor making these? I have been able to find no info. If there are know parts that work (even with modification) then that is fine too. I weld and have a great radiator shop if need be.

Overall, not too far off. But I would like to get all parts ordered at same time such as the engine/front cover/mounts. Those that know me know that I have done normal engine swaps, LS swap and a lot of customizing so all this is in my wheelhouse, just want to streamline it.

Thanks a ton!!

Looks like you are well on your way!

Get the engine mounts from Chad and the cooling package from Uncle Doug.

Post up the details once you get started. Good luck.

That’s the plan so far. Did yours have AC? hoping the AC compressor/bracket from Chad will work (https://quickdrawbrand.com/product/mid-mount-ac-compressor-kit-for-cummins-r2-8-air-conditioning/)

the alternative is the Cummins bracket 5286671, (https://shop.cummins.com/CSSNAStore...pport+5286671&pId=a2w4N000003sPTPQA2&store=US ). Just figuring out which for my LHD

I guess I'm spoiled living in coastal RI, AC isn't as important realistically we only get maybe a few weeks of really hot weather.

^ haha must be the thin blood come out here for a few months of "spring" with 60* weather and a bone chilling breeze coming off the freezing water! Should get you back in shape!

As much as I love the A/c trip down memory lane, does anyone know the most graceful way to add it to the R2.8 in a LHD? I’ll figure it out, but in the interest of not reinventing the wheel...

We have one at the shop that Doug did. I’m sure he could tell you what compressor he used. From what I remember it is just a factory kit with custom lines to the compressor

Could you shoot a pic for me of the compressor location? That is all I need. I have all the bits figured out once I know that.

I’m not at the shop today, but this is one I had on my phone. Looks to be under the alternator

Thanks so much!! That does help. There is a low mount bracket and a mid mount bracket. The low mount puts the AC below the PS pump. The mid mount swaps the AC and the PS so the AC is actually above it (but below the alternator). If you happen to see that, please let me (us) know!! Hard to tell by the photo. It does appear that the LHD is a tad easier than the RHD from a room standpoint on the right hand side...
