1990 Range Rover County mice damage?

I found a remarkably rust free classic that has been sitting over 15 years. Mice ingress is obvious.

How challenging is it to clean the heater matrix and ductwork on these? What other damage should be expected from the mice?

Im interested in buying it due to the rust free aspect but don’t know what to offer. Any thoughts? Will need a repaint but little body work. All the wood grain stuff needs refinishing. Rest of the interior is pretty good. Doesn’t run but starts with ether. I’m assuming the fuel, braking, suspensoon, and cooling system need major attention. 120,000 miles if that matters.

Sounds like a complete restoration is needed. I've bought/sold similar RRs for about $3000.

Run a carfax to be sure the odometer mileage checks out and there is no accident history. If your goal is to restore and sell for premium money, it will matter.

Had a mouse find my ‘94 LWB suitable for its home. And while garaged inside. Approximately $3k spent on rewiring the inside. Was extremely lucky my comprehensive insurance included rodent damage coverage. Also extremely lucky the shop knew how to trace and properly rewire it
Almost anything can be fixed yet mouse piss smell is tough to remove and parts might need to be replaced vs just cleaned. If you can find the parts which are getting harder to source.
There are other Rangies out there that might be a better starting place.

How you doing Terry? As for the rrc, complete dash out, while it's out fit a new heater matrix it will leak after back together, Murphys law.

How true! Before we shipped the Rangie to Switzerland had a new heater core installed and thankfully kept the original. The new one burst had the original one put back in. New one all plastic vs brass fittings on the original. Should have just left it alone.

Hey John,

Doing well, in CC for a couple weeks. The RRC is somewhat close by. Figured I’d look at a couple LRs to drag back to the shop while so close to the rust free desert.

The heater is right up there in the Pantheon of the worst jobs to do on a Classic. Some would argue that it is the worst. I dunno, but it's no fun no matter how you slice it. For that alone I would slash 2 grand off the amount I would be willing to pay as it's a full weekend's worth of work. If there's wiring damage, well, a new harness isn't such an ordeal if the heater is out but still, who wants that headache.
If you're taking out the dash might as well look for good front carpets or have the existing ones professionally cleaned. They're made of wool mohair so you have to treat them with r-e-s-p-e-c-t. Also a good time to replace the underlayment.
I wouldn't go much over 5 grand on a money pit like this but that's just stingy old me.
I agree with Adam, it's probably a 3 grand deal..

Meh. Where is the nest? When the RRC sit, the fuel pump seizes or it could be a bunch of stupid stuff like the relay or the inertia switch.

Nest is in the dash, at least in the heater box. I’m probably going to pass on this one. There is a D1 SD “fixer upper” not far from this one in much better condition and a lot less money. But, the seller can’t find the title and I’m only here for a couple more weeks.

Is it old enough not to require a title in the state its in? How about your state?

New Mexico - title required, from my understanding. Brought others in from Missouri to register. They even required a vin inspection to assure it matches the title.
