A follow up on air helpers...
The Firestone kit listed above does not fit, and has been returned. Unfortunately the pictures on all websites that sell this kit do not represent what actually comes with it. No upper and lower pucks to retain the airbag so with Land Rover's upper spring seats...
Thanks everyone, I've put in an order for the Firestone 4164 kit. We'll see how they fit. Amazon is pretty good at returns but time will tell.
I've also heard about the mushier ride, but have been told on that front that this can be avoided by keeping left and right lines separate rather than...
I'll keep that in mind. I am lifted about 2" so they may not fit.
Do you have the seats as well?
Still would like to hear if anyone else has experiences with air helpers.
thanks, yes thought of those inner springs but at $700 USD plus shipping its kind of out of the budget. The air spring kits are roughly $230 CAD (~$160 USD) shipped to my door.
Hmmm, maybe I can get my hands on some used inner springs...
Has anyone got experience with installing either the Coil-rite or Airlift spring helper inserts on a Defender 110?
Firestone Coil-rite has a specific part number for Defender 90, but not for 110. Here's a link to the 90 part number:

It wasn’t the compression washers. The exhaust manifold to head bolts had loosened. I hadn’t retorqued them after head install. (Don’t think I ever read that this must be done). Anyway, all good now. I’ll retorque again when we get home.
Anybody in Las Vegas have some spare injector-to-head seal washers? I’m noticing a pfft-pfft noise that sounds suspiciously like I’m losing compression and I’m on my way back to BC. I’m stopping by the dealer and another independent in the morning but I don’t have high hopes that either will be...

BTW I’ve now been enjoying the benefits of the tuning, the torque is much better. The hill I climbed in 5th gear, I used to have to shift down to 3rd as it’s very steep. No notable increase in smoke. Time will tell how the mileage compares.
Apologies for writing a novel and shifting back and forth between Metric and Standard...
Last October I took our 1995 Defender 110 300tdi off the road to do some maintenance and upgrades. This included the following:

Great pics! You are obviously enjoying the trip. I saw you about a year ago now in northern Baja as we were heading to Todos Santos. Have been following your progress on Instagram since. I'm envious and preparing for our own etended trip in a couple of years.
Gents, a cautionary tail... Do not mount your wires on the inside of the frame rail. Top is fine, over the wheelwell is great. Do not take your positive power from at the starter, connect all the way back to the battery.
A few years back we took a few friends through the local "Jeep Trail"...
I'm exploring ideas for winch bumpers on my D110. I have a Warn 9.5ti winch sitting here that I'd like to fit into the bumper. Anybody have suggestions, or better yet a bumper kicking around that needs a new home?
cheers, Dave
I just want to clarify, is the 215158 Severe Duty fan clutch for 300 TDI or a v8? I have a standard duty clutch on mine that generally seems to be along for the ride and I can't sense any engagement. Was looking for a more hefty alternative.
cheers.
