I saw Mike from Britannica Restorations on YouTube has been doing a series on his 110's 4BD1T recently: https://www.youtube.com/@BritannicaRestorations/videos Might be interesting to follow.

    Grenadier

Yeah, for sure, but the G-Wagen has a twin-turbo V8 that has more HP, torque, and drives like a sports car. The new Defender in 4-and 6-cylinder forms gets something like 20MPG, so it seems like it's in the realm of possibility from here in my armchair.

Is this someone here? I found it to be an informative video, but man, the gas mileage is so bad for a 2024 vehicle...they really should have picked a different motor for this one.

    Roof top tent setups

This summer I also started going down the RTT rabbit hole, and came to this conclusion too - the swag is a pretty good RTT alternative, at 1/10th the cost. You can put the smaller ones on a cot too, so no need to be on the ground. Some pros of the swag that have led me to lean that way when I...

    Greek Peak 2023

The Land Cruiser (79 series, I think?) the Safe Xtract guys had was super cool. Really clean LHD truck, and the owner had done some work to it based on the conversation I overheard. Once they're importable to the US, I expect they'll be popular here.

I'm wondering the same thing. Would also love to hear folks' opinions on which radios they like/dislike. There's a pretty big price delta between the cheaper stuff on Amazon and Midland/Rugged, I'm not sophisticated enough in this area to really be able to tell the difference.

    Rivian sighting

The Wrangler looks identical to the gas/diesel one, modulo the addition of some blue accents on tow hooks. Curious to know what you think of it? Anything you wish was different/better about it? Charging-wise, I've heard Electrify America in the Northeast is so-so, but maybe it's better in...

    Rivian sighting

As far as I can tell "mild" hybrid is a greenwashing term that Land Rover and probably others are doing around what's effectively their start-stop technology. It might show some minor MPG gains, but it's not a true hybrid like the classic Prius was. In my opinion, the only hybrid worth buying...
