    Air struts for lr3

I use the GAP tool. Calibration is easy with the GAP IID tool. You do need a metric ruler. So getting a 1 meter level and a friend IS THE WAY (Actually I think you can set it to use freedom units but I do have...the other units on the level, so I just do that). Have the friend do the...

    Air struts for lr3

For giggle and shenanigans, check the air connection at the top of the air bag. It sounds like its leaking and when the air suspension moves, it leaks. I had the same problem. If you have air bubbles, remove the air hose from the top of the air bag, trim 1/4" from the tube, and re-install...

First Real Problem with the RRS TD6

This doesn't make sense. If they inspected the turbo (which may or may not have happened), it would be definitive. Either a turbo is good or bad. If it was bad, you'd probably know it because it would be pissing oil into the engine and clogging your DPF and causing all other kind of fun things...

    Air struts for lr3

Arnott seems to be the aftermarket standard. I bought "OEM" air struts from LRdirect and they came in Britpart boxes. I think Dunlop is OEM supplier. The LRDirect supplied ones were a joy to have installed. I noticed the front end felt a ton better. My part number was RNB501580G.TR. Which is...

    New Lexus GX

Looks like they took the styling queues from the ye olde 79 series station wagon. Which has good looks. I did wish the new L663 took more styling from the L316/older defenders. Interior is laid out well. Steering wheel controls are a bit busy but I'm sure its fine. Flappy paddles on the wheel...

    Broken half shaft (at least?)

Yeah looks like the center of the half shaft died of stress fatigue. AKA old and worn out. Good on you for authorizing the replacement of both sides because the other side would go in a few years.

    Broken half shaft (at least?)

A few notes: -If its the front, its probably the CV axle that died. This happens. -Replace both? I mean, probably. If it is the CV, then yeah I could see that. That said, I think its a "tear down and see" kinda a job. Is one side full of water? No grease? Some grease? Empty? That'll tell you...

    AC toolkit recommendation

Go rent the tools from autozone/advance auto/etc. Go on their website and look for "loan a tool" or "Tool loan program" or whatever. Dead simple. Walk up, ask for it, pay with credit card. KEEP RECEIPT. Use. Return. Get money back. Use money to buy rover parts/beer/steak/tacos (not in any...

    Which Seat Heaters?

I have Puma OEM seat heaters. They are....adequate. They work and will be part of the solution but won't burn you out. So anything near stock Puma seat heaters, I would pass on. I wouldn't spend money to install them. BTW stock Puma seat heaters are on/off only.

Winter Gloves (for driving) - What do you like?

Somehow, old Army D3-A military gloves have been the best old rover driving gloves ever. Always keep my hands warm. The wool liners just increase that warmth. Also cheap. I scored a bunch of pairs years ago at Salvation army and have slowly killed them all. Far more durable than the cheapo work...

    110 pickup traction?

Add about 200-300 lbs over the rear axle. That'll help out A LOT. My 109 soft top had traction issues with the rear axle (noticed heavily off road but also in a few ice storms) until I converted to a full hard top and added a few other things to the back. A full length tool box full of spares...

    Winch size question

10,000lb is good. As long as you aren't buried to the axles or you aren't stuck on a stump that is jammed up between the frame, it'll be fine. Best bet is to get a fastest winch you can afford. Ideally that would look like a Warn Zeon or similar, but do what you can. I highly recommend...

Anyone running 34x9.50 or 34x10.50 swampers

MTs on tubed wheels are fine. Take some JB weld and cover the wheel rivets in the middle of the rim. Let it dry, paint, good to go. Oh and check that your valve stem hole is actually round and not rust-shaped. That'll cause slow leak issues. I've got one slow leak. I put a few PSI in that tire...

Anyone running 34x9.50 or 34x10.50 swampers

Bias ply. Only experience I've had with Radial TSLs is 2nd hand. A friend of mine ran them for like, 3 months and swapped them back out for BFG MTs. In all honesty, I think the tech in the radial TSLs is so old now that it doesn't hold up well to modern MTs. The Bias ply TSLs just have that...

Anyone running 34x9.50 or 34x10.50 swampers

Those were OLD SCHOOL 15x7 wagon wheels from that reseller in like, New Mexico or Arizona? They also did the quick release door tops. This is circa early 2000s. With the 9.5" wide tire, I did have issues with losing air at like, 15psi or so. I did weld-on beadlocks (the worse) to try to...

Anyone running 34x9.50 or 34x10.50 swampers

I 34x9.5x15s TSLs on my 109 years ago. On road, once they warmed up, they would round out and be ok. I ran them with BBs inside to try and balance them out. They would kinda balance out once up to speed and flat spots removed. They were noisy. By comparison, I cannot ever hear my worn out BFG...

synthetic oil - does it make a difference?

First off, the Discovery 5 dictates you must use synthetic. So that is what you are using. If you put dino oil in the engine, that'll be a problem. I think there is a Mobil 1 oil that'll work with the gasoline engine version. But also, plot twist, check your local dealer. OEM oil at my dealer...

Milwaukee M18 Impact on sale at home depot. This is the "big daddy" one. I've got the mid-torque and it is pure hoss mode all the time. This thing will rip apart...whatever. $250 with big giant battery, its a heck of a deal...

    Towing a 110 on a Rental Trailer

Here is me towing my 109 with my LR3. Your 110 might be a bit heavier. This setup was about the maximum I would be comfortable towing with my LR3 over any kind of distance. Towed it from Asheville, NC back to Atlanta, GA. Its easy with UHaul. Put in you are towing a 1993 Land Rover Defender...
