1990 Defender110 ex mod. Seems kinda weird, i drive in 4th gear prior to shifting to 5th and little to no smoke, shift to 5th gear and a constant plume of black smoke. Runs fine, holds 60mph when i am on long trips. Thinking dont worry about it or see if it’s something i need to address.
Filter or air in fuel system.
Always start troubleshooting by changing in a fresh filter.
A single tank of diesel can clog multiple filters. Keep spares in your truck.
