R2.8 to Ashcroft HD R380 stumpy Conversions

Just to update and answer my own question, Chad designed this clutch fork to work with the Stumpy Throwout Bearing that comes with the R380 stumpy. I did not have that one to try as my R380 was bounced around the plane on the way to the US and that part didn't survive the trip. I ordered another...

    R2.8 Radiator Solutions

I found a typo on the drawing in regard to the tube length. The bottom view shows the 1 3/4" length I measured on my 2.5NA, but the text in the note on main view says 2".

    R2.8 Radiator Solutions

I put together a simple drawing which I have attached. I plan to send it to a radiator manufacturer to see what they would charge to make, but mainly to see if this could be turned into a standard part number than people could order. I could have this made locally, but that does no one else any...

    Clutch Slave Fittings

To update this, I wound up ordering the right angle mopar fitting and a length of -4an to -4an premade line with a right angle on one end. This will allow me to 180 the line from the slave to come back to the bulkhead with a 7/16 to -4an connection. It could be done cheaper if you build your own...

    Clutch Slave Fittings

The stock hard line happens to be in a very good location. I have RHD truck - hardline out of clutch, up and over the bulkhead and down to left footwell, then a flex line to the hard pipe on the slave. If I was LHD the distance/direction is better for ditching it all like you suggest.

    Clutch Slave Fittings

The lower fitting on #12 and top of #16 in diagram linked. Hard line coming off the master connects to the flex hose. I plan to replace flex hose and everything down from that fitting. https://cdn.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/1251_clutch_master_cylinder_and_pipes.png That drawing calls two parts for...

    Clutch Slave Fittings

All the normal clutch fittings on a 2.5 NA are 1/4" BSP, correct? The Quickdraw bell housing uses the ram 2500 slave, which uses the pinned quick release fittings. Link example of fitting below. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rus-640281/overview/ Still researching, but plan to 180 off...

R2.8 to Ashcroft HD R380 stumpy Conversions

That same kit down here is $170. With the 20% off sale at O'Reillys I got the 23 spline HD 11" kit for $130 before tax. I'll get the flywheel drilled in the next few days. 4 of the 6 bolts line up still if anyone is up for using high grade M8-1.25 bolts. My pic has 8.8's I had laying around. I...

R2.8 to Ashcroft HD R380 stumpy Conversions

So the JC Whitney kit was a scam. They sent me the 10 spline clutch with the wrong part number. After spending an hour on the phone with India after hours JC support, they do not have the 23 spline available even though it says in stock and I ordered the 23 spline. So wasted a week waiting on...

New Ministry of Defender AC kit

It's hard to link direct to their video on Facebook, but Ministry of Defender in UK has made a new AC Heater blower unit that sits totally in the engine bay in place of the old heater box. Anyone stateside looked at these yet? This is a year or two down the road for me and I have not seen any...

I found one of the 11" kits at JC Whitney for $72 after tax/shipping. Ground shipped so it will be in by the end of the week. Will let you know if it fits. For the price it was worth trying.

R2.8 to Ashcroft HD R380 stumpy Conversions

Had time tonight to look into the clutch setup. There are various 1"x 23 spline clutches from Dodge in the 70s. Found a 12" from the 75 W200, and 10.5" and 11" from the 77 Ramcharger. The standard bolts on the Cummins flywheel for "stock" clutches are at 12.5" diameter. Seems a little tight...

R2.8 to Ashcroft HD R380 stumpy Conversions

I was thinking only about the cummins + mt82. Have not researched it with a 300 at all and have no clue how the measurements would change. I would follow that thread if it gets started. I haven't seen any north american work with defender mt82's. To get the thread back on track, my bellhousing...

R2.8 to Ashcroft HD R380 stumpy Conversions

mt82 doesnt have a removable bellhousing. It's integral to the front casting. Machining nightmare and extremely custom. Also its a totally different tailhousing from the mustang. Custom to Land Rover application. Which means an adapter plate is the way to go. Only makes sense for people doing...
