    LT230 Sump Cover Re-seal Failure

Thanks Jim. If it works I much prefer a greased gasket to RTV. Because of all the RTV and Right Stuff comments I have always assumed a gasket wasn't offered.

    Carling Start/run switch

I just noticed this at SDO but nothing about function. Turn the key to on and then use the carling? Thus you still can't start the engine without the key to maintain theft deterrence? Anyone using one of these care to share how you set it up...

    28 x 40 Garage Build...WWYD

Plumb and wire for overhead air hose and extension cord reels-the more the better except that the reels get expensive. I can't bring myself to buy any electric hand tools either. I've had my Snap-on air ratchet for 40+ years and I bought it used! Leave air compressor outside and use 20' or...

    Carling Start/run switch

Thanks for the input Greg. I haven't tried it, or made the mistake, but I don't think my 130 has a clutch safety switch. I'm afraid I would consider that an advantage, as if your clutch actuation goes out you are not stranded. In other vehicles, decades ago, I have driven without a clutch in...

    Carling Start/run switch

Planning my lower dash replacement and weighing rewiring possibilities. Is installing a Carling switch to take over start/run (starter solenoid/IP fuel switch) function worth doing? I'm thinking a slight theft deterrent and circumventing ignition switch failure. The key would have to be used to...

    LT230 Sump Cover Re-seal Failure

I used the Green Gear Oil Permatex on this last attempt. Interestingly, this AM I watched a few Permatex training videos and Permatex only recommends three of their products for use with gear oil: Right Stuff 1 Minute, Right Stuff 90 Minute and Green Gear Oil. Great idea on the gasketed sealing...

    LT230 Sump Cover Re-seal Failure

My TC sump cover re-seal was not successful. It looks like one or more of the 4 bolts that screw into through holes are leaking. I noticed the potential problem and took steps to remedy by letting the box drain with the cover off for 4-5 days then cleaning the through holes with ethanol...

    HCPU Spare Tire Carrier

Very nice, I'd never seen one of those. Unfortunately I have to leave the tailgate down to haul motorcycles so I'm stuck. The last time I picked up a motorcycle I made the 600 mi. round trip without a spare. I need to make the same trip again and don't think I should push my luck.

    HCPU Spare Tire Carrier

This wouldn't work as is for a 110 either without cutting the bottom off of it and adding the 1½" thick rubber bumper to contact the upper part of the wheel which is definitely not what is depicted in the parts listing. Thank you for the help. I know I've gone beyond beating a dead horse, but...

    HCPU Spare Tire Carrier

Only the bracket, bracket cover, bumper bracket and wheel retainer. Everything else is NLA. It would take an 1½" rubber bumper to make this work, but that does not address that the tire/wheel would not be resting on the bed floor. I'm almost ready to weld a hanger bolt bracket in the correct...

    HCPU Spare Tire Carrier

I'm pretty sure the application for this part# is the 130.

    HCPU Spare Tire Carrier

I just acquired an MTC1584 for my 130 and I am perplexed. The hanger bolt stay attachment point is 6" above the wheel center making it impossible to use as shown in this thread. In Frank's #13 post photos you can clearly see: 1). The spare tire is being held in place through the center of the...

Good thread, don't know why it fizzled out. A must for every trail kit: https://clamptitetools.com/ and some safety wire but most any wire (bailing wire) will do in a pinch if you have one of their larger tools.

    300 Tdi Oil Leak

Sounds like that gets moved to the top of the laundry list. Since the crankcase breather enters the plumbing before the turbo, how do you figure out where the leak is from? No detectable oil loss in the 2,500 miles since I’ve owned it.

    300 Tdi Oil Leak

Solved. I re-cleaned and one of the lower IC clamps was a little loose. Which begs the question: Does the IC need to be removed and de-greased (de-oiled) occasionally to restore it's cooling capacity? The 300Tdi only has 80k miles on it and runs like a top so wouldn't think the cyclonic...

    Caliper Re-Seal

Started to pull calipers to rebuild then noticed my caliper seal kits do not have any kind of seal which seals the caliper halves. Parts cat. lists 17H8764L that looks like it might be the right style of seal (square section O-ring) but application is for H-K and I've got a V (1997) There are...

    300 Tdi Oil Leak

Thanks for the info @michael67. Saved me pulling the radiator. And all others, you've convinced me, I suppose I'll re-clean and start seaching after short trips. Thanks, Stephan
