300 Tdi heads are pretty affordable and shouldn't be machined. I usually just replace the head with one of those high flow AMC heads when I'm doing a head gasket on one.

The external cage can be fitted with the ribbed roof. You may have to massage the ribs.

Does LR138847 have the tab for mounting?

Technically you shouldnt be decking a 300 Tdi head in the first place. I would buy a new head before decking the block.
