I only recently started noticing occasional sticking door buttons. Most of the time, closing the door with some vigor frees them up.
Other than that... will cross 27k mi this coming Saturday.
The D90 was barely 12 hours from an Amazon box, with maybe 2 hours on that driveshaft . The similarities don't end up there - the bumper was crooked from the box:
All in all, it is the first time in my life when a toy manufacturer captured the essence of not just the vehicle (it is an...
Now's my turn.
First thing to do in the morning was to repair the rear driveshaft for 1:12 scale RC D90.
The trunnion broke off the cross; miraculously, it was found, put back into the yoke, and attached to the cross with a red-hot sewing needle.
This is a good use case breakdown, but it doesn't account for "which trails."
My WAG is that people going over 35" (this number is also subjective) are from two classes - poseurs who never leave pavement, and people "tuning" their vehicles to their very local trails or mudholes.
Locals living...
The "real" trails set things right.
We've seen our first JKUR on 37s with a broken driveshaft about 1000 feet into the Rubicon from Loon Lake. We've also seen a ZJ on 40s - but running a front Dana 60 and rear Dana 70, so the owner's ground clearance is what it would have been with Dana 44s...
This is a loaded question.
First, the speedo may read high simply because the clockspring behind the needle is tired. In my 95 Classic with 387kmi, the speedometer starts reading high after about 65-70 mph (and the needle can fall down onto the top peg). If that's the case, it has no bearing to...
Well... This is what an exposed winch looks like on a Grenadier:
It is very functional, accessible, the bumper centersection is very well made, but... personally, I'd go with a tucked-in winch.
There are several auxiliary coolers behind that fat ugly front bumper on a Grenadier. Not sure if there's an elegant way to replace it.
As far as action goes... I don't remember having any traction issues on Mineral Creek in Ouray with both D1 (front/rear TT) or Classic (front open/rear TT...
I'd have a very hard time with an F-250 equally in a SoCal grocery store parking lot and on Mineral Creek in Colorado.
Not that this convenience is worth $10k or so...
This thread is fascinating.
I don't want to ruffle too many feathers, but, arguably, the best part of a Defender, mechanically, is the 1970 Range Rover coil suspension.
It blows me away every time I drive any of my Classics. It is a genius compromise of very acceptable highway manners and long...
I believe you can make your own - the caliper thread size is 10x1, I believe; Summit Racing sells Redhorse Performance -4AN brake hoses, and you can find -4AN to 10mm brake adapter elsewhere (here, for instance).
