I rented the burgundy gladiator in Aruba the other week and also had the same experience. It was on 37s and while nothing was super hard Offroad it really did everything well. Handled trails and driving around town with ease. They are a great option for sure.
Yeah a backing plate would help but wouldn’t stop the problem if under heavy pressure like mine was. The Montero hitch drops down and creates a lot of leverage whereas the jsq style was straight out
I have the Montero style and bent it and my rear crossmember pulling a dead lr3 up a trail. I’m debating just going nas style rear since there isn’t many other choices currently

Did a lot of searching on this topic and struggled to find a clear answer. I decided to wing it and go with 275/55/20 Terra grappler g2s and the rhino rods lift. Mine is a 2010 supercharged so couldn?t change wheel size. Haven?t installed them yet but will report back when I get them on this week
