New tires and wheels.

I've been researching and about as confused as before I started. My '87 110 has stock everything. I want a good mud tire. My guy wants me to go with super swampers. It's a daily driver with mostly less than 10 mile trips. Off road will be less than 100 mile highway trips and then mud. Always have thought wider tires do better in our mud. I need to buy five wheels and tires. The four wheels on the ground look ok, but the spare is a pos rusted steeler with a bald tire covered with a crappy cover. I want five matching wheels and tires. I'm thinking 265/75 is what I want. I don't want a real fancy wheel, something similar to what I have. I'll try to post a pic. Help me spend some money.

I went with Cooper stt maxx 235/85/16 on wolf steel wheels. Looks great on a LR110. Very happy with coopers so far.

Went with Cooper STT Pro in 285/75/16 on "wolf" steelies from Rovers North. Great road manners for a reasonably aggressive tire.

Arkansas mud.... Those coopers look good. Also Goodyear Duratrac.
Stay away from BFG AT whenever mud is involved. They just fill up with mud and wont shake it.

You could find one of those wheels at a junk yard for probably less than $50 and just paint it black.

Our junk yards get picked pretty clean around here. I was hoping not to travel to distant yards to find nice wheels and tires. I am not very good at painting.

The two most common sizes are:

235/85-16 and 255/85-16

You can buy that rim from Randy in PA or RoverDude in CA

I've been running the S/T Maxx since December and really love them. I haven't had them in the mud yet but they are a great looking tire and I think they'll be a nice compromise between and all terrain and mud terrain.

I just bought Wolfs with Goodyear MTR's on them.

I have not put them on as I like the smell that they give off just sitting in the basement. :)

I have MTR's on my Hummer and the first time I drove with them I got up to 80 (it was downhill :) ) without noticing and they were still quiet.

That is one reason why I went with them on my Defender.

Also nice tread pattern for both street and mud.

We have the same alloys, deepdish in black. I'm with Lostchord. I went with Cooper STT Pro 285/75/16 for their aggressive tread pattern and good road manners. the width of 285 however will require 30mm spacers and probably a 2 in lift. If you don't want spacers, I'd go with the Wolf wheels since their offset is less than the alloys (33 vs 20-ish mm).

Picture with 265/75/16, 2 inch lift. Toyo open county. These rode really well for a road tire.

I'll second the Cooper Discoverer in 255/85-16. Great tires, but a little noisier than the BFG-AT 235/85 I had on. I went with them because I wanted a little taller tire and BFG doesn't make the AT in 255/85.

I did a little gugglefu and found RoverDude in CA. He doesn't answer his phone and his voice Mail is full. There are a whole bunch of Randys in PA. There is a Randy Zeigler that owns Google in PA for wheels. Is that him?

That's a nice looking rig Wong. I just ordered five cooper sst pros from my tire guy. He said he can get a matching wheel for my spare. I think I'll go with that for now. Thanks for all the input. I'll post a pic when the new shoes are on.

I got my new tires today. They found a matching wheel for my spare. I really like how they look. I can not comment on the ride yet because they forgot to torque my lugs and two of them fell of about a half mile away.
