It takes a lot of time and money to mess something up that bad.

I think this is the first time I’ve seen a white soft top on a NAS…I’m calling Chris at Badger to see if he participated in this atrocity. 😂

Wait....... there's more.

I have to say after enjoying so many years on Nantucket with seemingly endless fantastic Defenders and Series trucks, and a long history of their presence on island, it seems that things have taken a turn for the worse. These two examples were sent to me yesterday from a good Landy buddy who is on island right now. He was equally incredulous.

Buttercup…. Words totally fail me. Definitely a 5/5 sick bag rating.

At least the 110 would be better without those atrocious p38 wheels and nasty aftermarket roof rack. Easy fixes I’ll give the 110 a 3/5 sick bag rating.

The plastic clad hood is pure goof. When styling choices reduce a truck's capability, it's just plain wrong.

Unfortunately, it appears that I am on a roll for this thread. Another Nantucket truck discovered by my wife this morning.

Ugh.

To be fair: the ratio of Land Rovers to population on Nantucket is still about as great as one finds on this side of the pond. So, there's bound to be some outliers - but there's also some real gems, including several one-owner Series, Discos, RRCs, and NAS90s/110s. I had my first sightings in the late 80s, with Dr. F's 110 that Mark Letorney brought in; Mark Enik's 109" auction-mobile; and George-the-Painter's Series III ambulance. The first pic was from Summer, '94 when 90s were languishing on dealer lots, but plentiful on island; the Limestone 109" left the island only once for a servicing (photo taken last October). I know this thread shouldn't include non-sucky LRs, but had to offset the f'ugliness!

P.S. As I was lacking an iphone back in the day - reliant upon Fujicolor or similar instead - I didn't capture nearly as many picture of NASs as I now wish. But the photo of the '94 AA below shows just how base Defenders were early in the run. Note: no rear door lock; no full safari cage; no lamp guards; and still factory Mud Terrains.

When we were on Nantucket last year they all seemed to be quality Land Rovers, some of them had the salt worm, but they were not the disgusting examples you have seen. There was a pristine 109 3 door that was a high dollar restoration at the new yacht club. It appears that Buffy told Biff that they had to have a Defender to summer on the Island and they bought the first thing they saw. Those two are horrible examples.
