Salisbury end play?

Does anyone know how much play is acceptable between/in the half shaft and the drive flange/plate?

got the end plate replaced, but there is still some significant play. I thought the end plate/drive flange would be also a press fit.
Do the half shaft cam wear over time?

Nearly none. The shafts can wear if they aren't greased at the flange interface.

If you can see any wear in the splines after cleaning you should replace them, they are cheap.

The flanges, especially aftermarket original pattern replacements can be shitty. It's not a press fit tho when new. It's a tight slide on with no hammering.

Good to know! Replacement flanges came from Britpart I think. Let me check.
Any manufacturer you would recommend for the half shaft beside Land Rover which are outrageously expensive? (I see Bearmach, Britpart and Allmakes)

Unfortunately I don't have any feedback to be on the shafts. I've always just bought what's cheap bearmach is probably a good choice? They are prob all made by one manufacturer.

I can’t remember the product, but there is a loctite product for essentially gluing the splines into the splines of the hub. Been meaning to try that.

Land Rover had a service bulletin with that for P38 if I remember correctly

Yes there is! Used some left over to secure the old half shaft to the old flanges. That’s a great spare set! :)
