Good luck with the degree. I’m president of a small GIS consulting and software development firm that specializes in mobile and web mapping app development for the petroleum and utility industries. I was also an adjunct professor for several years at a local university teaching a GIS programming course. Please feel free to reach out if you need anything.Retired from the Army last summer. Former airborne infantryman, civil affairs guy, and AH-64D pilot. Now I am a 40-year old in college pursuing a Geography major with a specialization in Geographic Information Systems. I also have A LOT more time to go work on the old 110 and 250GD Wolf.
My uncle was one of the early civilian side users of LandSat. If I remember correctly, he was pioneering the use of infrared and other imaging to see what use it could be for regular farmers. When I was a kid I used to geek out in his basement full of printing machines and shelves full of film from the satellites and the computers he had in the early '80s. I still have several large prints that he gave me for one reason or another, one 30x30 inch print, full infrared color, dated August, 1974.Ha...
Most of my work in the last 20 years was in airborne imaging. First it was in the ocean, then in sandbox, now - mostly agricultural.
I prefer to find out less and less about more and more with the goal of knowing nothing about everything.Former life: operations manager for a major metal recycler... stopped caring about how many tons we shipped...
Intermission: went back to school and learnt more and more about less and less, until I knew everything about nothing...
Neuroscientist for now... (Explains the millions of questions and total lack of practical knowledge)
I mean.. it takes some real special people to love and enjoy these trucks.. hahahahA lots of impressive resume here. My old me was a interior designer for residential and commercial. I gave it up after a while, I find that it's super boring. I went to back to what I like which is cooking and made a business out of it for the last 12 years.
