Double deep vs full width intercooler, VGT reccos - 300tdi

Hello All,
asking for a friend who doesn't do forums, the new owner of my former 90 is doing a bunch of work on it, and was thinking about a VGT turbo with a new intercooler, while he has the engine out.

2 questions:
1) Allisport, etc double deep but regular width or a full width intercooler
1a) if full width, will that impact engine cooling significantly?
2) VGT recommendations?

Thanks!

I have an Allisport double core intercooler and Turbo Technics VGT
I am happy with the setup

I prefer the full width, the tdis run cool I wouldn't sweat overheating it. Only real way to overheat it is to run it with ac on when lugging the engine not moving quickly

Only one real bolt on vgt option: bell, Technics and Allisport ...they are all the same turbo .

Highly recommend that they do egt and boost gauge before any of this work

If you are installing A/C the full width makes all of it a thick stack. I had a double thick IC and had no complaints.

Just FYI for anyone else looking to do this... You had the bump out grill setup which I ended up switching back to the flush style to clear the Husky winch. Its a tight fit with the ac and thicker intercooler, but it does fit.

I just went with the uprated allisport and dropped right into the factory spot and should be ample for the turbo technics turbo.

I found that it would also interfere with the rockware bumper and warn winch combo. The stock grill is really tight to the winch.
