What have you done today to your LAND ROVER (Non Defender)

I'm on parental leave so I'm trying to knock out all the small things that have been bothering me. Today was the driver's door window regulator, the old one was rusted to hell and when I closed the door hard enough to actually close it, half the time the window would roll down. Swapped in the new one, 30 min repair and its good to go.

Finally dove in and installed new rear speakers/boxes, front dash replacement speakers and a new Android head unit today. Snaking all those cables up through dash was a huge PITA, but I'm happy how it turned out. I ended up using an additional hardware USB dongle to trigger Android auto because I couldn't get the software solution to not crash. The dongle sits in series to one of the two USB ports. My options now are native android (tethers to my phone over WiFi) for any app in the app store + radio tuner (and music/movies on USB or SD cards but I probably will never use that), or I plug into the dongle-enabled port (the other one will charge/sync too) for Android auto to fire up. I'm really happy with the result.

I found a no cut radio harness on amazon, then built the full combined harness before install

Original fitment isn't going to work...

Moved the screen down, drilled/tapped 2 new holes, there was enough slack with the ribbon and now the screen viewing angle is (almost) flat.

Luckily this radio was less deep than the OEM one, leaving room for the miles of wire/cables behind it, but still having room for airflow.

Perfect fitment

Took a look at the shifting/linkage of the transfer case.
Surprised to find the gaiter protecting the linkage from dirt ingress has completely disappeared. Ditto the plate that holds it in position. Lovely surprise.

Swapped out my coolant tank for a aluminum replacement, not bad except for 1 of the bolts, you need to have fingers as long as mine and hands as small as my wife's... not both. That was a PITA. Ended up doing another full flush because I still wasn't happy with the color of the coolant that came out (I did this a few weeks ago too). Pretty happy with the results, but I have an honest question, how full should the new overflow tank be? fill it right to the cap? how much room for air should be in there?

Unstuck the diff lock mechanism with the help of my 7 yr old daughter, which led me to discover the diff lock warning light was not working, along with a few others. The diff lock light switch wasn't even connected, nor was the reverse light switch. I reconnected both switches and replaced some warning bulbs and everything looks great now.

Also installed the Raptor Engineering Binnacle Mount. Generally straightforward, except for the the rear right screw by demister vent tube. I can't believe people have managed to replace the mount without removing the gauge cluster. I also took the opportunity to upgrade dash lighting to LEDs, which look great.

I finished up a steering box swap on a friend's D90 which cleared some space in the garage so I can start working on this Safety Devices rack I have for the 110. Planning on sanding down the rust spots and throwing a coat of Rustoleum on it. Then I'll put on the Expedition Exchange jerry can holders I have, as well as the Maxitrax mounts.

I also ordered an auxiliary fuel tank for the 110, so hoping to get my range up to the 800-1,000 mile range with two jerry cans.

How does the tank plumb in? Does it just empty/fill from the standard tank or does it have its own filler?

The one I ordered is a fill through tank that goes in right rear fender. It basically takes the place of the filler neck. I have one on my D90 from Safari Equip that gives me an additional 7 gallons. The one I'm putting on the 110 holds over 11 gallons.

Nice job everyone. Finally started in on getting the 110 rolling again. Prepped the new r380, pulled of the clutch, flywheel and rear main seal. I used my old r380 to make a clutch alignment tool out of the input shaft. I also used some threaded rod to make alignment dowels for the rear main seal. overkill but oh well. Spent some time tidying up the undercarriage and garage and ready to build back out. Tomorrow rear main seal, new valeo hd clutch, clutch fork, ashcroft r380/lt230. To be continued

RRC love today. Installed a new Southdown fuel tank skid,

and then I removed the seat & mirror memory control box. I’m going to move the circuit board mounted battery to a remote enclosure (to prevent damage when the battery fails).

Did a rebuild on the air compressor on the LR3. Man that top bolt is a pain. Going in actually was easier than out. Got lucky the first time.
