2020 Defender Accessories Thread

Or (hopefully) old Defender members for that matter, since they mostly use PoziDriv, not Phillips head screws, and most of the jump seat mounting hardware is 1/4" UNF. :)

Not using the fancy named English screwdriver is what gets the screw heads chewed up when the Phillips screwdriver cams out, which the Pozidriv is designed not to do. In the parts catalogue, the back-support-brackets-to-sidewall hardware is M6, but everything else is 1/4"-28, and that's what they are on mine. :)

But I get your point; you're throwing some not-so-passive/aggressive shade on future New Defender owners, because they're just going to use them as mall queens and would never think about getting their fingernails dirty by wrenching on them. I've noticed similar sentiments on other makes' forum when a new model comes out, so it seems to be a thing that owners of older models do..

We are trying to make a go at a legitimate 2020 Defender forum. Those owners will want to come and see actual technical threads, not weak jokes. You can post this stuff in General if you want.

The rear seats are on rails that slide on a flat floor. Makes you wonder how easy they would be to remove.

when I flipped the seat to see the load area, they look to be simply bolted into place and probably simple to remove. that said the rear floor is actually a cover that comes up and has the jack/tools and storage underneath. so its not flat like a classic defender.

Update...Pozidriv bolts have been found! There are definitely some removed when removing the rear bumper for the tow hook install.

Mine has the 3rd row of seats under the rear floor that flip up similar to an LR3 but much easier. On the one's with a 3rd row the 2nd row slides forward providing a tiny bit of leg room or the back rest of the 2nd row can flip forward. The prototype model I saw did not have 3rd row and that 2nd row seat did flip forward revealing some sort of foam storage thing, but I can't tell it was going to be standard issue or just because it was a prototype.

This pic is of a 5 seater, without the 3rd row.

The same Foam was in the 5 seater I drove as well.. All in all looked fairly straight forward to take apart if needed.
I looked at he raised air intake directions you posted and if didn't look that tough since all the holes are there for the Rivnuts. you had to take the door off?

I took the door off because there was no way to tighten the bolts on the back side with the tools that I had. You'd need a small swivel head ratchet to leave the door on. Honestly, taking the door off was pretty easy and it didn't take long at all to have it off and put it right back on. Two bolts and an electrical connector.

Why? There is very little overlap from any perspective. This forum is better off as the gunsandrovers of classic Defenders.

We want to be the top result you get when you go looking for a "defender forum". When one of you goes to ask a technical question or post something for sale, we want you to come here and not even bother wasting your time elsewhere. It's been our mission from the beginning to make this the best Defender forum out there. Might not be relevant now but in a year, you're going to need a strong 2020 section to be that.

In the first couple of weeks of NAS-ROW's life, people said that our "forever ad-free" stance was just a sham and that we were just trying to make another shitty board to sell. I think we've proven them wrong. I'm serious when I say that we hope to make this the very best place for discussion of these trucks. In a world filled with nefarious social media companies and shitty, poorly-run and ad-laden forums, we want to be the good example of what genuine enthusiasts can build for their community.

I understand the ambition. I'm personally more interested in a niche forum. Anyways, the nas-row url may make it more difficult to pick up traffic compared to sites with Defender in the name. I also doubt many new Defender drivers have any clue what NAS or ROW means.
