smooth instead of chequer for wings/quarter protectors?

I've dreamed of smooth, cover-free wings since I bought a Defender. Someday I will repaint this truck and put fresh, clean wings on, no tread.
Same!

Since I already have plate the smooth do look like a nice option, add to the rigidity while accepting paint (IMO) better than the 5 bar. Diamond plate on the wing tops seems invaluable, I have seen so many panels bend and bow when doing engine bay work, forget about stepping on the sill.

If I had a nice maintenance free ride I would love the look of bare sills but alas, its not my lot.

picked up the full set of 3mm smooth from bearmach. I'd rather not rivet but can't find a good set of black stainless or alu countersunk screws. anyone have any good options for hardware?

that said, I'll have a relatively new set of black chequer (hood, wings, sills, quarters) if anyone is in need.
I went to my locate hardware store and picked up a bunch of philips, stainless, countersunk screws with nyloc nuts. Been secured for two years now and no issues. Just that it was hard to drill that first hole in a perfectly good panel.

i have a few things im getting from YRM, ill likely get a few packs of these and see how stainless looks. Was worried a bit about the corrosion, but i guess some paste will prevent any issues, plus the top portion will be painted over powder anyway.

will be pulling my chequer in the next few weeks. hit me if interested, I'll post in the FS section when it's all removed.

7 full pieces, should be ding and dent free. installed just prior to shipping to the states, never saw a day of inclement weather.

maybe $175 + ship
