Power steering hose leak

Why risk a potential fire? As he ^ says, a local shop can make up a hose for you.

Ouch! I didn't even think about potential fire - Thanks for the heads up.
Not going to wait. I'll be pulling it to get rebuilt on Monday.

Removed the leaking hose.
Both hydraulic hose places I took it to are not interested in using the old fittings off of it, say they can't source the exact same fittings and due to the length and tight bends they can't adapt to what I have.
Searches show the OEM part (NTC1691) is no longer available and I realized the rubber hose I have isn't the original metal tube design (which is why it shows rubbed wear in multiple places).
Now I can't even use it as a template for new!
I can source the parts for each end (RTC5674 - banjo fitting, NTC1683 superseded to NTC8860 - pipe steering box reservoir).
I would love to have an original NTC1691, even in unusable condition, to verify diameter tubing & make my own metal tubing bends.
Here is a picture of what I have.
Any ideas would help!

No success getting my power steering hose rebuilt with my existing fittings. Ordered pump-to-power steering box hose (NTC9074), but my connection to the pump is different. Pic #1 is an old pump with the same style crimped on banjo fitting hose as the hose I have in pic #2.

The new hose wants a threaded fitting, but all I can find is the style pictured below.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

the three hose part numbers I have for your LHD 200tdi are:

NTC8191 - pump to box
NTC8192 - res to pump
NTC8860 - box to res

NTC8191 - pump to box

this has the SAE flare on the pump end, which typically mates to an adapter fitting on the back of the pump (banjo to SAE male flare).

the pump in question here seems to be missing that adapter fitting, instead having just a crimped on banjo fitting on the hose. interesting.

That's what I am trying to figure out. Thought I had an aftermarket one off hose, but the 200tdi that I ordered in from the UK has the same style hose end - I can't use that hose because it was cut off. Trying to avoid buying a new pump just to get a banjo fitting since I now have two 200tdi pumps that may work fine.

NTC8191 - pump to box

It looks like this hose also has the same SAE male flare as the one I have. I'll have the same problem without a banjo fitting that has the adaptor. I don't see it listed as a part except the style I pictured. Maybe it is provided with the power steering pump?

It is part of the pump - you can use the fitting you have and order a banjo fitting (the banjo bolt is unique, but the fitting is not)

Or can see if there is a failed pump with the fitting intact. You are welcome to come dig through our take-off bins as there is probably at least one in there...

Generous offer. I would take you up on that if I were a little closer. I'll check into ordering the banjo fitting separately from the pump manufacture. If not, I'll just get a new pump & see if the fitting also works with the old pumps (spares).

NTC5000 may be what you need. RN shows stock. Maybe Zack can pull one out and see if it looks right.

I have been frustrated by this f*%# hose. Recap: Original hose sprung a leak. Genuine hose (NTC8191)is NLA. No superseded/aftermarket hose. Hydraulic shops do not want to try using my old fittings (no room to work - tight bends in a short distance). Hose was cut off on the 1st tdi (WTF?). Ordered a hose I thought would work - nope. Ordered a new pump just to get the threaded style banjo fitting (& I'll have a back up pump :)). Still need the hose that goes between the power steering pump & the steering box. I have reached out to HGR on Dsource in hopes he still has the one he posted for sale in 2017. Just missed out on one in a group of parts Method SV sold recently...
If I don't turn one up, I'm thinking of using the end off of the new wrong hose that fits the steering box & take the new banjo fitting that fits the pump so we can match a flare connector, measure hose length between & try the hydraulic shops again.

I have a new NTC8191 that I will be installing later on down the road. Happy to see if my local shop can duplicate or send out somewhere as a template if needed. Let me know if I can help.

Will do. Thanks for the offer. I'll let you know if a couple leads fall through.

The fittings on the power steering box are standard size. I can't tell you if you have the metric or the SAE, but in either case there's only one for the high pressure side. You can get the nuts or the -AN adapters from Jegs, Summit, Speedway, etc. Ditto the banjo to -AN adapter. Once you have the -AN flare fittings on the pump and the steering box, you can use regular old (premade) hydraulic hose with 3/8 female ends.
I put up part numbers on my mega build thread, but I can dig them up for you if you want. I stopped fooling with factory pre made hydraulics years and years ago due to these same frustrations.
