Spy Shot Of Defender? Dec. 1

The new 90 with a "third" door like the FJC?

My .02 that I have already posted elsewhere. They have said that it "would have the capability of the Defender but not be retro styled". My personal opinion is that the DC100 took so much heat that they decided that they could not meet expectation with a Defender so said "screw it, we shouldn't even try". Personally, from the stuff I have read and now these types of pics, I would have welcomed a DC100 into the family with open arms.

Let the roasting begin! LOL!

Could just be photos of a current model refresh. After all, the photo album features two different cars (two different license plates, two different back doors) being suggested as one.

The article mentions that it is the LWB and SWB.

OK, for once, I'm going to get slightly optimistic here.

We are not seeing a Photoshop job, but we are seeing a hack job. I'm optimistically going to say that this is the Defender with a chopped up RRS/Disco body just for the purpose of getting it on the road.

I can see the RR developing as it has. I can see the Evoque. They lost me on the current discovery because it lost so much of what made a Disco a Disco an LR3/4. But I understand that it could have been pulled vertical, been given the right roof line, etc...

...no amount of explaining can explain how in the world they think making another -- ANOTHER -- carbon copy of all of their other cars, simply changing the doors a bit, and making a SWB version could mean they could call it a Defender. Someone in LR design has literally lost their biscuits if this is meant to be the the new Defender.

Is this the result of sabotage? If this really is the Defender (body) that's the only conclusion I can come to. Jeep has infiltrated them.

The DC100 got a bad response because it was too much of a jump for the time. I didn't like it as a Defender, but I would have loved to see it as a new model.

Didn't they state in the article that the bodywork is a mix of existing bits just to cover up the chassis and get it on the road... Or maybe that was another article

I don't remember seeing that, but that's what I hope. It would make sense from the standpoint of it being the same uni-body.

I just can't understand why any car company would make this many vehicles this closely related, visually speaking.

whatever that is the outlook is bad. Jeep JL is better. As much as the current 4 Runner appeals to me I would never be able to feel comfortable wheeling in it.

I think what we are looking at is a fake door on top of what is not a door, or what is a suicide door. If you look at the rear wheel arch, you can see that the door isn't meant to be on this vehicle. And the rear end of it has just a random strip of something bolted on. The lights are just Range Rover lights.

So we're supposed to accept that the obvious signs of bad photoshop are just coincidence?

If you look at this pic you can see that the rear door is basically just glued on, and the front wing is also. http://www.off-road.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Land-Rover-Discovery-Spy-4.jpg

The surround at the fuel door is odd. Either its going to be really hardcore looking, or that whole rear quarter panel is also not Defender; they cut a whole out of it to fit the actual Defender fueling tube.

I still don't see how this could become something unique, but we are not looking at photoshop, and we aren't looking at the panels that actually will shape this vehicle.

The extremely obvious signs...

What I'm saying is that this is a panel that is tacked on for the road test.

I could be wrong, but I think that rear door is completely fake. I think it will be a suicide door with no external handle.

If you look at the other pics, you see that that seam is in all of them. The take away would be that the photographer is working with Land Rover to hide the real look of the car. And that he/she edited each of those photos in sequence, but didn't see fit to do any of that type of editing on the LWB version. Which is exactly opposite of what most of these photographers are trying to do.

I also think the rear of the roof is just RR Sport. That step down is where the Range Rover roof begins. And that whole quarter panel, except for where the fuel port is, is Range Rover.
